The journey to Manchester Airport
Birmingham Airport to Manchester Airport is about 91 miles, mainly on the M6, and takes around 1 hour 40 minutes in clear traffic. From Birmingham city centre it is about 81 miles and around 1 hour 30 minutes. Manchester Airport is south of the city, close to the M56. The M6 can be slow at peak hours, so allow extra time.
We advise reaching the airport at least 2 hours before departure, or 3 hours for long-haul flights. For a 10:00 flight, that means arriving by 08:00, so a 05:45 pick-up at Birmingham Airport leaves some room for traffic.
