Air France will extend its partnership with Scandinavian carrier SAS, adding its code to the latter’s transatlantic flights.
The French operator will codeshare SAS flights from the airline’s hubs in Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm, to US cities such as Miami, Atlanta, Seattle, New York, as well as Chicago.
Parent Air France-KLM Group says the “strategic step reinforces the commitment…to deliver greater convenience and improved loyalty benefits to their respective customers”.
The codeshare agreement is the latest step in commercial partnership both carriers have. SAS already adds its code on Air France-KLM flights to the USA, as well as intra-European flights.
In a July briefing, the group outlined the benefits of partnering with SAS on long-haul operations, noting that the carrier would be able to grow its network by capitalising on the group’s three-hub strategy and transatlantic joint venture.
The Air France-KLM Group currently owns 19.9% of SAS, which it acquired after the latter emerged from Chapter 11 restructuring in 2024.
The Franco-Dutch group recently disclosed its intention to acquire a majority shareholding by the second half of 2026, ultimately resulting in SAS becoming a subsidiary of the group.
