Several major airports are experiencing disruption from a technical issue with airline check-in and boarding systems, which is being attributed to a cyberattack.
London Heathrow’s operator identifies Collins Aerospace as the provider, and says the situation affects “several airlines across multiple airports globally” which might cause delays.
It is advising passengers to check their flight status with airlines prior to travelling.
Brussels airport’s operator states that the cyberattack took place at night on 19 September against the service provider.
“This means that at the moment only manual check-in and boarding is possible,” it says.
“This has a large impact on the flight schedule and will unfortunately cause delays and cancellations of flights.”
It says the service provider is “actively working on the issue” and “trying to resolve the problem as quickly as possible”.
Berlin Brandenburg airport’s operator similarly states that the “technical issue” is causing “longer waiting times” at check-in.
