Dutch carrier KLM has commissioned the Netherlands’ first Airbus A350 simulator, in preparation for the airline’s introduction of the type next year.
KLM is set to take delivery of A350s from the end of 2026.
Its initial simulator, installed at the Schiphol-East facility in Amsterdam, has been supplied by Canada-based CAE.
“Owing to its size, the simulator couldn’t pass through the main gate and had to be hoisted over the fence,” the carrier says. “It is now fully installed and ready for use.”
The airline expects to start training its first batch of A350 pilots “shortly”.
“This advanced simulator provides KLM pilots with training on the latest technologies and procedures in a realistic and safe environment,” the carrier states.
Air France-KLM Group has 50 A350s on direct order, comprising 47 of the -900 variant and three A350-1000s.
